Snake Pass is slithering down to EGX Rezzed!

We’re thrilled to be finally be able to announce our pet project, Snake Pass!

Welcome to Snake Pass; a physical action-puzzle game that sees the player slither, curl and climb their way through increasingly challenging worlds filled with evermore intricate obstacles and fiendishly mind-bending objectives!

Snake Pass is the wriggling brainchild of Seb Liese, who originally came to Sumo from Holland to work on the LittleBigPlanet team. His prototype of ‘real snake physics’ captured the entire studio’s imagination and we’re really proud of the results so far!

Snake Pass is playable on Sumo’s stand at EGX Rezzed this week – slide on by and let us know what you think!

After winning the Game Jam at the end of 2015, Seb was given a team of pros from within Sumo to develop his idea, scaling it up from a ‘snake physics’ tech demo to a playable demo with fleshed-out levels of reptilian action puzzling.

Seb joined Sumo four years ago, giving up his job as a biology teacher in Holland to join the studio as a designer. When not teaching, Seb was active in the LittleBigPlanet community where, as one of the most popular creators, Sumo spotted his talent and offered him a full-time job at their Sheffield HQ.

“I can hardly believe that my hobby of creating within a community has turned into my dream job as a game designer. As a student I had a pet snake and was fascinated by the way it moved – I didn’t know at the time that this would become the inspiration for my first game demo. As a designer I guess you never know what will trigger an idea.”

Paul Porter, COO of Sumo Digital said, “The Game Jam is a new initiative for us. Its main objectives are to give staff an extra outlet for their creativity and for us to explore the possibility of creating our own IP. We’re looking forward to seeing the public’s response to Snake Pass at Rezzed.”
